Sherri W. Bornstein, PhD

Dr. Bornstein is a licensed psychologist who has been in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia since 1987. Previously she directed a family therapy training and treatment program at an adult mental health center in Framingham, Massachusetts. Sherri has served adults of all ages with compassion, warmth, humor, and attunement. Whether working with an individual or a couple, Sherri’s approach is collaborative and respectful. She helps clients explore their feelings, thoughts, and ways of interacting, as she guides them to make the changes they seek. Sherri draws on a variety of theories and approaches, most especially Attachment Theory which emphasizes the impact of relationships throughout our lives, as well as Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Family Systems Theories. Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, an empirically validated blend of all these theories and approaches, provides the path for Sherri’s work with couples. Sherri continues to be humbled and honored that clients talk with her about the stories of their lives, allowing her to help them move through their difficulties, heal their hurts, come to terms with their sorrows, and live their lives with greater ease and satisfaction.
